Hi, I'd just like to share a recent experience I had with a travel agency in Mississauga that provides e-visas to the UAE.My boss had planned a trip to attend a trade show in Dubai, but like many others neglected the fact that the UAE now requires visas for Canadian passport holders. It was Thursday when we found out about needing a visa and the plane ticket was booked the following Wednesday so time was short. A quick internet search turned up several sites offering to provide e-visas to the UAE over the internet. Ever so skeptical, I called up the number listed from dubaivisaservice.com since he was in Mississauga and had a quick chat, but still didn't buy into it, after all I wouldn't want to risk the boss not getting let in at the airport; I'd have to find a new job! I couldn't find any definite reviews on these sites either, so I said I'd write one if I did have success with one.We decided to go the embassy route despite the fact that the embassy will take at least 5 business days so we'd have to rebook the ticket. After getting some information from the internet and from calling the embassy, at 10 in the morning (yea, I start work at 8) I drove the boss personally from Toronto to Ottawa, arriving at 2:30 pm, the visa section's closing time. It turned out we didn't have a sponsor and was missing some other information, so we home we went. On the way home I decided to call the e-visa guy again as a last resort, since he said he can do it in 48 hours or something. On the side of the highway, I forwarded photos of the boss' passport to him from my iphone and he said it should be ok Monday or Tuesday. I guess that's the best we can do so if the boss does get stuck at the border, maybe I can still keep my job! So come Monday I get a call from Noor, the e-visa guy saying it's ready. Still skeptical, I drove 45 km down to his office on Tomken Rd. in Mississauga from Markham and met him in person. It was a clean brick and mortar travel agency named Ariana International Travel. He printed out a copy of the e-visa to me and emailed a copy to me just in case. Come next Friday, the boss called in from Dubai saying the visa went through without a hitch. Phew..
